The February 4th Muppet Show 50th Anniversary special was everything we dreamed of and more. Point Grey Pictures completely nailed the classic vaudeville chaos, and Sabrina Carpenter proved to be the ultimate Gen Z answer to the classic Muppet guest star. Between her Betty-Boop-meets-Miss-Piggy diva energy, that incredible “Manchild” saloon number, and the sheer joy of seeing her bounce off Kermit, the bar has been set astronomically high.
With the special pulling in nearly 8 million viewers across Disney+ and ABC, a full-series greenlight feels inevitable. But if Kermit is going to keep lighting the lights, he’s going to need a revolving door of A-list talent willing to get flattened by monsters, heckled by old men, and upstaged by livestock.
So, who should sign the guestbook at the Muppet Theater next? Feltzer and the rest of the MuppetMadness team have been brainstorming, and here is our official wishlist for the next wave of guest stars:
The “All-In” Comedians
The best Muppet guests are the ones who fully commit to the bit, treating a foam-and-fleece frog with the same dramatic weight as a Shakespearean co-star.
- Jack Black: This is the most obvious casting of the century. Imagine Jack Black having a scat-battle with Animal, singing a tenacious rock ballad with Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, or trying to teach the Swedish Chef how to make a “tribute” sandwich.
- Ayo Edebiri: She has the perfect anxious, rapid-fire comedic timing to bounce off Scooter’s backstage panic. Plus, her deadpan delivery would be a hilarious contrast to Miss Piggy’s over-the-top theatricality.
The Musical Powerhouses
The Muppet Show is a variety show at its core, and we need guests who can absolutely bring the house down musically.
- Chappell Roan: If Sabrina Carpenter brought pop-princess energy, Chappell would bring pure theatrical camp. Miss Piggy would undoubtedly try to steal her bedazzled outfits, and a massive musical number featuring the Muppet penguins is exactly the kind of surreal television we deserve in 2026.
- Kelly Clarkson: We already know she has the powerhouse vocals, but she also has that genuine, infectious joy that makes for top-tier Muppet interactions. Put her in a soulful duet with Rowlf the Dog at the piano, and there wouldn’t be a dry eye in the house.
The Dramatic Heavyweights
There is nothing funnier than a serious, prestige actor treating the Muppets with absolute, uncompromising gravity.
- Pedro Pascal: The internet’s favorite dad trying to wrangle Robin the Frog, or getting increasingly frustrated by Muppet Labs inventions going haywire. He has the acting chops to play the straight man to the absolute wildest Muppet antics.
- Florence Pugh: She has the dramatic range to go toe-to-toe with Sam the Eagle in a deeply serious debate, only to pivot into a ridiculous slapstick pie-fight with Fozzie Bear.
