The amplifiers are cranked, the iconic 40-foot guitar has been splashed with psychedelic paint, and the first-ever Scooter audio-animatronic is officially hard at work trying to herd chaotic band members.

G-Force Records Presents Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets has officially begun previews at Disney’s Hollywood Studios ahead of its grand opening on May 26, 2026. For die-hard Muppet fans, this massive retheme isn’t just a simple character overlay—it is a major cultural shift for Jim Henson’s creations inside Walt Disney World.

But with the old Muppets Courtyard transforming into Monstropolis, a burning question remains: Is this high-speed thrill ride the start of a permanent new era for the Muppets at Disney Parks, or is it a bittersweet consolation prize?

Inside the Queue: Music, Mayhem, and Deep-Cut Easter Eggs

Disney Imagineering didn’t just swap out Aerosmith for Dr. Teeth; they packed the entire attraction with lore that only true Muppet scholars will appreciate.

The story kicks off inside G-Force Records, which is now operating under new management. In a brilliant piece of obscure lore, the studio was secured for the band by none other than J.P. Grosse—the legendary real estate tycoon, owner of the Muppet Theatre, and Scooter’s uncle.

What to Look For in the New Experience:

  • The Scooter Animatronic: In the pre-show, you’ll encounter a highly advanced Audio-Animatronics figure of Scooter. Built using state-of-the-art motion-capture technology, he moves and emotes with perfect puppet accuracy as he tries to rush the Electric Mayhem to their big Hollywood concert.
  • Penguin Audio Engineers: Naturally, the recording studio’s technical crew is made up entirely of Muppet penguins.
  • The L.I.M.O.: Instead of a standard stretch limo, Muppet Labs has engineered the Lengthy Immediate Motion Object (L.I.M.O.) to blast guests from zero to 60 mph into the neon-lit neon streets of Los Angeles.
  • The Tribute: Keep your eyes peeled near the loading zone for a hidden portrait of Jim Henson rendered beautifully in full Muppet form.

The Setlist: The Electric Mayhem’s New Coaster Tracks

The ride system’s 125-speaker audio package has been completely remixed. Riders will randomly blast off to one of five high-energy tracks performed by The Electric Mayhem, featuring some massive real-world guest stars:

  1. “Song 2” – The Electric Mayhem (Blur cover)
  2. “Born To Be Wild” – The Electric Mayhem ft. Camilla the Chicken
  3. “Love Rollercoaster” – The Electric Mayhem ft. Jennifer Hudson & Questlove
  4. “Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)” – The Electric Mayhem ft. Def Leppard
  5. “Walking on Sunshine” – The Electric Mayhem ft. Kelly Clarkson

Even the outdoor courtyard area has received a massive sonic upgrade. The new 34-track background music loop blends classic rock staples from bands like Van Halen, Rush, Heart, and Blondie with original Electric Mayhem tracks like “MAYHEM!” and “Believe In Us.” Meanwhile, the old KRNR snack cart has been converted into FØØD by Swedish Chef, serving up themed snacks to hungry rock fans.

The Big Debate: A New Sanctuary or a Consolation Prize?

For the online Muppet community, this coaster is a major victory, but it arrives with a touch of irony. The ride’s debut happens right as the physical walls are closing in on the original Muppets Courtyard down the road to make way for the upcoming Monsters, Inc. suspended coaster land.

While losing the classic Muppet*Vision 3D space hurts, putting Kermit and company at the helm of one of Disney World’s premier E-ticket thrill rides gives the franchise an entirely new level of permanence. The Muppets are no longer tucked away in a nostalgic corner; they are the face of Sunset Boulevard’s biggest thrill.

If this coaster draws the massive crowds Disney expects this summer, it proves that the appetite for Jim Henson’s humor and heart is bigger than ever. Far from fading away, the Muppets are simply moving into a faster, louder lane.
