Remember when getting to Sesame Street was as simple as turning on the television, grabbing a bowl of cereal, and settling in for a morning with Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, and a certain blue monster who couldn’t seem to hold down a job?

Well, dust off your imaginary street signs, because the world’s most famous neighbourhood is getting ready to welcome us back!

Sesame Street Season 57 officially premieres on Monday, November 23, 2026, bringing new adventures, celebrity guests, music, laughter, and plenty of furry nonsense to Netflix and PBS KIDS.

And yes, Cookie Monster is still here. Apparently, 57 seasons haven’t been enough to satisfy that appetite.

But beyond the laughs, this new season has something especially important to teach young viewers: how to deal with big feelings, show kindness, and be good friends.

Here’s everything we know about Season 57, including the new episodes, celebrity appearances, returning segments, and exactly where you can watch it.

When Does Sesame Street Season 57 Premiere?

Mark your calendars for Monday, November 23, 2026!

That’s when Sesame Street officially kicks off its 57th season, continuing a television legacy that began way back on November 10, 1969.

Think about that for a moment.

When Sesame Street first aired, there were no smartphones, no streaming services, and certainly no Netflix recommendations telling you that you might enjoy watching a giant yellow bird.

You just turned on the television and hoped your parents didn’t switch over to the news.

More than half a century later, the address is still 123 Sesame Street, the residents are still delightfully strange, and somehow Oscar the Grouch still hasn’t been evicted.

The new season will arrive in batches rather than all at once. The first collection premieres November 23, with two more collections scheduled for 2027.

In Netflix’s release schedule, these are identified as Volumes 4, 5, and 6 of the current Sesame Street collection.

What’s New in Sesame Street Season 57?

The theme of Season 57 is kindness, compassion, and learning how to manage big emotions.

That might sound like a serious assignment for a neighbourhood where a talking trash can is considered perfectly normal, but Sesame Street has always found clever ways to tackle important subjects.

This season builds upon the emotional well-being lessons introduced in Season 56.

Children will learn about sharing, listening to others, understanding different points of view, dealing with jealousy, and finding ways to resolve conflicts.

And naturally, the lessons come wrapped in silly situations, memorable characters, and the sort of humour that has made Sesame Street special for generations.

After all, there’s a reason adults can still remember songs they learned from Muppets 40 or 50 years ago but can’t remember where they put their car keys five minutes ago.

Sesame Street has always understood that children learn best when they’re laughing, singing, and having fun.

Season 57 is continuing that tradition.

Celebrity Guests Coming to Sesame Street Season 57

One of Sesame Street’s greatest traditions has always been inviting famous faces into its wonderfully chaotic neighbourhood.

Over the decades, everyone from musicians and movie stars to comedians and athletes has stopped by to hang out with the Muppets.

Season 57 is keeping that tradition alive with four announced celebrity guests:

  • Zara Larsson
  • Post Malone
  • Tyler James Williams
  • Michelle Buteau

Swedish pop star Zara Larsson will perform a brand-new song called “Puppy Dance Party” alongside Elmo, Abby Cadabby, and Cookie Monster.

Honestly, putting Cookie Monster in charge of anything involving a party seems risky. Hopefully, somebody remembered to keep the refreshments somewhere safe.

Post Malone is also among the announced guests, alongside actor Tyler James Williams and comedian Michelle Buteau.

Sesame Workshop has not yet revealed every detail about their appearances, so there are still a few surprises waiting around the corner.

Additional celebrity appearances are also planned for exclusive digital content throughout the season.

The First Four New Episodes Revealed

Sesame Workshop has shared details about the first four episodes of Season 57, and they sound like a delightful mix of friendship, feelings, and classic Muppet mayhem.

Episode 5701: Elmo & Tango’s Puppy Playdate

Elmo and his adorable puppy Tango are planning a special playdate, but things go wrong when a present for Tango’s cousin Mambo fails to arrive.

Fortunately, Mail Monster Grover is on the case!

Now, longtime Sesame Street fans know that whenever Grover is given an important responsibility, there’s a reasonable chance things are about to become much more complicated.

Meanwhile, Cookie Monster decides to pretend he’s a dog, just like Barkley, in hopes of getting a treat.

Which raises an important question: Has anybody ever actually seen Cookie Monster turn down an opportunity for food?

The episode also features Zara Larsson performing “Puppy Dance Party” with Elmo, Abby, and Cookie Monster.

Episode 5702: Elmo’s Treasure Hunt

Elmo and his friends become explorers on an exciting imaginary treasure hunt.

But when Abby’s stepbrother Rudy feels excluded from the game, Elmo and Abby realize they’ve hurt his feelings.

Together, they learn the importance of including others, apologizing, and showing kindness.

They even create a special Buddy Rock to share with someone who needs a friend.

Meanwhile, Grover and Cookie Monster go searching for treasure of their own.

We’re guessing Cookie Monster’s idea of treasure probably involves chocolate chips.

Episode 5703: Abby’s Beastie Bestie

Abby Cadabby helps her magical beastie learn to fly, but there’s a bittersweet twist when her little friend must return to Fairyland.

Naturally, Abby is sad about saying goodbye.

With help from Nina and Elmo, she learns how to preserve happy memories by creating a special memory box.

Meanwhile, Super Grover attempts to teach Cookie Monster how to fly.

We’re not entirely convinced that Cookie Monster is aerodynamically designed for flight, but we admire the ambition.

Episode 5704: Elmo’s Game Night

Even Elmo gets jealous sometimes!

When Elmo’s mom and Abby are having a wonderful time playing together as teammates, Elmo starts feeling left out.

He learns how to calm himself using a technique called a heart breath, then apologizes for letting his frustration spoil the fun.

Meanwhile, Grover and Cookie Monster attempt to win a game of their own.

Somehow, we suspect the competitive spirit might get a little out of hand.

Returning Sesame Street Segments Bring Back Familiar Fun

One of the best things about Sesame Street has always been its ability to combine different sketches, songs, characters, and stories into one wonderfully unpredictable television experience.

Season 57 will continue that tradition with returning fan-favourite segments.

Elmo’s World

Elmo’s World returns with more curious questions, playful discoveries, and the sort of enthusiasm that only a little red monster could maintain for 57 seasons of television.

For generations of children, Elmo has been the friendly face who makes everyday objects and experiences feel exciting.

And for generations of parents, Elmo’s distinctive giggle has been permanently installed somewhere in their brains.

Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck

Cookie Monster and Gonger are back with more culinary adventures.

The pair explore ingredients, discover how foods are made, and learn about the people who help bring meals to our tables.

It’s educational, energetic, and often wonderfully chaotic.

And unlike most cooking shows, there’s always the possibility that the host will simply eat the ingredients before dinner is ready.

Tales from 123

The animated Tales from 123 also returns, taking viewers inside the famous apartment building at 123 Sesame Street.

The segment explores the amusing and unusual adventures happening behind those familiar doors.

Because apparently, being neighbours with talking monsters, a giant bird, and a man living in a trash can wasn’t interesting enough already.

Where Can You Watch Sesame Street Season 57?

Good news! You won’t need to ask Grover for directions or hitch a ride with Mr. Snuffleupagus.

Sesame Street Season 57 will be available on Netflix internationally and on PBS KIDS in the United States beginning November 23, 2026.

Canadian viewers can watch Sesame Street through Netflix.

Watching in Other Countries

Netflix is bringing new Sesame Street episodes to audiences around the world in more than 30 languages.

Availability and language options can vary by region, so check your local Netflix catalogue.

And for longtime fans looking for a nostalgia trip, Netflix also offers a collection of more than 100 classic Sesame Street episodes and specials.

That’s enough Sesame Street to make The Count extremely happy.

“One! Two! Three! FOUR episodes!”

You know you just heard that in his voice.

Sesame Street’s Future Is Looking Bright

Season 57 isn’t the only good news coming from the neighbourhood.

Sesame Workshop and Netflix have extended their partnership to continue producing new seasons through Season 62.

That means the famous television institution has a future beyond this November’s premiere.

And there’s more!

Netflix, Sesame Workshop, and production company Rideback are also developing a brand-new Sesame Street movie.

Details about the film’s story and release date are still under wraps, but the announcement is another encouraging sign that Sesame Street isn’t planning to close its doors anytime soon.

Considering the neighbourhood has survived more than five decades of Cookie Monster’s eating habits, Ernie’s practical jokes, and Oscar’s complaints, we’d say it’s built to last.

A Little Nostalgia for the Original Sesame Street Generation

For those of us who grew up watching Sesame Street in the 1970s, 1980s, or 1990s, the show is much more than children’s television.

It’s a little piece of childhood that never really went away.

We remember Mr. Hooper behind the counter, Big Bird trying to understand the world, Bert getting frustrated with Ernie, and Grover attempting to serve a meal without turning dinner into a complete disaster.

We remember the Pinball Number Count, the wonderfully strange animated shorts, the unforgettable songs, and those mysterious Muppet characters who appeared a handful of times before disappearing into television history.

And who could forget waiting for The Count to finish counting absolutely everything?

One thing. Two things. Three things!

AH-AH-AH!

There was something magical about a television programme that could teach us to read, count, share, and care about other people without ever feeling like homework.

Jim Henson and the original creative team helped build something extraordinary.

The characters, the humour, and the lessons stayed with us long after we grew up.

And that’s what makes Season 57 worth celebrating.

It’s another chance for a new generation to discover the same neighbourhood we once loved.

The television screens may be bigger, the technology may be different, and the cast has evolved over the decades.

But underneath it all, Sesame Street is still about friendship, imagination, kindness, and finding joy in the little things.

Even if those little things happen to be eight-foot-tall yellow birds.
