Elmo, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch and their friends are building something special — and this time, the whole world is their classroom!
What happens when the colorful imagination of LEGO meets the timeless magic of Sesame Street?
Apparently, Cookie Monster gets frightened by a bat, Oscar the Grouch becomes a gardening expert, and The Count finds another reason to talk about creatures of the night!
In a delightful new collaboration announced on October 27, 2026, Sesame Workshop and the LEGO Group have teamed up for Build the Change for Little Ones, a collection of three free educational adventures designed to introduce young children to the wonders of nature.
And while the activities are aimed at children ages 4 to 6, longtime Sesame Street fans might find themselves smiling just as much as their kids.
After all, it’s not every day you get to watch Cookie Monster discover that bats help make chocolate possible!
Three New Sesame Street Adventures — Made with LEGO!
The collaboration features three short videos, each approximately three minutes long, introducing children to an animal and its importance in the natural world.
But naturally, this wouldn’t be Sesame Street without a little comedy, some familiar furry faces and a few unexpected lessons.
1. Cookie Monster, The Count and a Very Important Bat!
Cookie Monster has faced some pretty serious challenges over the years, most of them involving an empty cookie jar.
But in this adventure, he’s startled by something completely different — a bat!
Fortunately, Count von Count is nearby to explain why these nighttime creatures deserve a little appreciation.
Children discover how bats help pollinate plants and protect crops, including cacao trees.
That’s right. Without nature doing its job, Cookie Monster’s favorite chocolate treats could be in trouble.
Suddenly, bats don’t seem quite so scary!

2. Elmo and Grover Discover the Magic of Butterflies
Our favorite lovable red monster joins Grover for an adventure involving butterflies, gardens and a little creativity.
Together, they learn why butterflies are important indicators of a healthy garden and how people can help create welcoming spaces for these colorful insects.
Using LEGO bricks and everyday craft materials, children are encouraged to imagine their own butterfly-friendly habitats.
And knowing Grover, there’s always the possibility of a little lovable chaos along the way.
The message is simple: even the smallest creatures have an important place in the world.

3. Oscar the Grouch Teaches Elmo About Worms
Who better to teach children about dirt, worms and the wonderful things happening beneath our feet than Oscar the Grouch?
Oscar has spent decades living in a trash can, so a little dirt certainly isn’t going to bother him.
In this adventure, Oscar shows Elmo how worms help keep soil healthy and gardens growing.
Children learn why these often-overlooked creatures are important to the environment, then get the opportunity to build pretend habitats of their own.
And longtime Sesame Street fans will appreciate the connection to Oscar’s famous pet worm, Slimey.
It’s an adventure that proves even the grouchiest resident of Sesame Street has something valuable to teach us.

Free LEGO Activities Families Can Download
The videos are only the beginning.
The LEGO Group has also released free activity guides and printable inspiration cards that help children take what they’ve learned and turn it into imaginative creations.
After watching an adventure, children can build a pretend animal habitat using LEGO bricks, cardboard, paper, recycled materials or just about anything else they can find around the house.
The goal is to think about three important things every creature needs: food, water and shelter.
Parents, grandparents, teachers and caregivers can join in, making this a fun activity for the entire family.
And best of all? You don’t need to purchase a special LEGO set to participate.

Can You Buy Sesame Street LEGO Sets?
Now comes the question that collectors are probably already asking.
Does this new Sesame Street collaboration include a brand-new LEGO set?
Unfortunately, no.
The LEGO Group has confirmed that the 2026 Build the Change for Little Ones initiative is an educational collaboration rather than a commercial product launch.
But that doesn’t mean Sesame Street LEGO collectibles don’t exist!
In fact, one particularly memorable set is still worth hunting down.
LEGO Ideas 123 Sesame Street — Set #21324

- Walmart Canada — a third-party marketplace listing for the retired set.
- BrickLink — compare collector listings, including new and used sets.
Prices and availability vary, especially for retired LEGO collections. The original set is designed for adult builders ages 18 and older, unlike the new nature activities intended for younger children.
A Little Sesame Street Nostalgia, One Brick at a Time
There’s something wonderfully fitting about Sesame Street teaming up with LEGO.
For more than half a century, Sesame Street has encouraged children to explore their world through curiosity, imagination, laughter and friendship.
Meanwhile, LEGO has spent generations giving children the building blocks to turn their ideas into reality.
Put the two together, and you have a pretty natural partnership.
Longtime fans might remember growing up with Big Bird teaching us about friendship, Grover explaining the difference between near and far, or The Count finding any excuse to practice his numbers.
Now those familiar characters are helping a new generation understand the animals and environments around them.
It’s the same Sesame Street spirit, just with a few more plastic bricks scattered across the living room floor.
And perhaps one more thing for parents to accidentally step on.
Where Can You Watch the New Sesame Street LEGO Videos?
All three adventures are available through the LEGO Group’s official Build the Change for Little Ones webpage.
The videos are also being rolled out through Sesame Street’s YouTube channel.
