The Muppets are getting ready to rock around the Christmas tree at Walt Disney World.

Disney has announced the first-ever holiday version of Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, and naturally, The Electric Mayhem aren’t settling for a few decorations and a string of Christmas lights.

Beginning November 4, 2026, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will transform the attraction into Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Obligatory Holiday Overlay.

Yes, that is really what Disney is calling it.

And honestly, could there be a more appropriately Muppet name?

The limited-time Christmas makeover will bring new music, new moments with the Muppets and a holiday version of The Electric Mayhem’s already chaotic concert adventure. The overlay will run through January 6, 2027.

The Electric Mayhem Is Getting a Christmas Setlist

The biggest change will be the music.

Instead of simply adding some bells to the existing soundtrack and calling it Christmas, Disney has created a special holiday setlist featuring four seasonal songs performed by The Electric Mayhem and some pretty impressive guest stars.

The holiday soundtrack includes:

  • “Holiday Road” — The Electric Mayhem featuring Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear
  • “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” — The Electric Mayhem featuring Jennifer Hudson
  • “Silver Bells” — The Electric Mayhem featuring Cyndi Lauper
  • “Little Saint Nick” — The Electric Mayhem

Kermit and Fozzie joining The Electric Mayhem on “Holiday Road” alone sounds like something Muppet fans are going to want to experience.

Then you throw Jennifer Hudson and Cyndi Lauper into the mix and this suddenly becomes considerably more ambitious than your average seasonal theme-park overlay.

Christmas Chaos Starts Before You Even Get on the Ride

The holiday changes won’t be limited to the roller coaster soundtrack either.

Disney says festive music will greet guests outside the attraction around its massive guitar marquee before they enter G-Force Records.

Once inside, Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd Pepper, Janice, Zoot and Lips are supposed to be rehearsing for a special holiday show.

And because this is The Electric Mayhem, everything is apparently going perfectly.

Just kidding.

Other Muppets will show up while the band attempts to get ready for its Christmas performance, with the usual problem of actually getting The Electric Mayhem out of the studio and to their concert on time.

In other words, Disney isn’t simply swapping the songs. The Christmas version continues the attraction’s Muppet storyline.

Scooter Is Still Trying to Keep Everyone Under Control

One of the highlights of the regular Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is Scooter, who has the unenviable job of attempting to manage The Electric Mayhem.

The attraction features the first Audio-Animatronics figure of Scooter, created with motion-capture technology based on an actual performance by the Scooter Muppet. Disney Imagineering used the performance to help reproduce his movements and expressions in Audio-Animatronic form.

During the holiday version, Scooter is once again desperately trying to convince the band that eventually they might have to stop rehearsing and actually go perform for their audience.

He even has a group of penguin audio engineers helping him.

Because Muppets.

Guests then board one of Muppet Labs’ greatest technological achievements: the Lengthy Immediate Motion Object, better known as the L.I.M.O.

That, of course, launches everyone across Hollywood in an attempt to reach The Electric Mayhem concert.

The Muppets Only Took Over Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster This Year

What makes the Christmas announcement particularly interesting is just how quickly Disney is expanding the attraction.

Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets officially opened May 26, 2026 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The reimagined attraction replaced the previous version of Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster and put The Electric Mayhem at the center of the story.

Guests enter G-Force Records while the band is running late for a massive concert. Scooter, Kermit, Miss Piggy and other Muppets become involved in the chaos before guests are launched into a high-speed journey through Hollywood.

The coaster itself still includes three inversions — two rollover loops and a corkscrew — but its story, soundtrack and surroundings have been redesigned around the Muppets.

Less than six months after opening, Disney is already giving it a major seasonal variation.

That feels significant.

Disney Seems Willing to Keep Playing With the Muppet Attraction

For years, Muppet fans have watched characters disappear from Disney parks almost as often as they appeared.

So seeing Disney create an entirely new seasonal version of one of its newest attractions is encouraging.

An overlay requires additional music, performances, programming, creative development and park operations. Disney didn’t have to do any of that only months after launching the attraction.

Instead, they’re already treating Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets as something that can change throughout the year.

And The Electric Mayhem might be the perfect group for it.

Christmas music performed by Dr. Teeth and the band doesn’t feel like something being awkwardly forced onto the Muppets. It sounds exactly like the kind of ridiculous special concert they would put on.

Even the name “Obligatory Holiday Overlay” feels like the Muppets making fun of the fact that theme parks are expected to give everything a Christmas version.

Could This Lead to More Muppet Holiday Events?

That’s the interesting question.

If the Christmas overlay proves popular, Disney suddenly has plenty of possibilities.

The Muppets have decades of connections to Christmas, from The Muppet Christmas Carol to A Muppet Family Christmas and numerous holiday television appearances, albums and specials.

Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster also provides Disney with a relatively easy place to rotate songs, jokes and story elements without completely rebuilding the attraction.

Could Halloween eventually get an Electric Mayhem setlist?

Could Disney create special versions tied to Muppet anniversaries?

Could completely different songs occasionally cycle through the attraction?

Nothing like that has been announced, but the Christmas overlay demonstrates that Disney is willing to experiment with the format.

For Muppet fans, that’s something worth watching.

When Can You Ride the Muppets Christmas Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster?

Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Obligatory Holiday Overlay runs at Disney’s Hollywood Studios from November 4, 2026 through January 6, 2027.

Interestingly, the Muppet celebration begins before Walt Disney World’s broader holiday season officially kicks into high gear. Disney says its resort-wide 2026 Christmas festivities run from November 13 through January 6, although individual holiday experiences begin on different dates.

So if you’re visiting Walt Disney World this Christmas, you can apparently add one more thing to the holiday checklist:

Getting launched through Hollywood at high speed while Animal and the rest of The Electric Mayhem blast Christmas music into your ears.

Now that’s a Muppet Christmas.
