The holidays are about to get a lot more Fraggle-y.
Fraggle Rock: A Holiday Gift, an all-new musical holiday special from The Jim Henson Company, is coming to Apple TV on Friday, December 4, 2026, bringing Gobo, Red, Mokey, Boober, Wembley and the rest of Fraggle Rock back for another festive adventure.
And this time, Wembley is getting a very important holiday job.
Apple TV officially announced the new special as part of its 2026 holiday lineup, confirming that Fraggle Rock: A Holiday Gift will also feature an appearance by singer and actress Nicole Scherzinger.
Wembley Becomes the Spirit Captain
At the center of Fraggle Rock: A Holiday Gift is Wembley Fraggle, who is chosen to become the Rock’s Spirit Captain.
For a Fraggle who famously has trouble making decisions, being responsible for spreading holiday cheer throughout Fraggle Rock sounds like quite the assignment.
Wembley enthusiastically sets out to bring some holiday spirit to everyone around him, but things don’t exactly go according to plan.
The trouble begins when the Fraggles unknowingly take a treasured snow globe from Doc’s workshop.
As the snow globe disappears, something strange begins happening: the holiday spirit around the Rock starts fading away.
Wembley eventually realizes that fixing the problem means finding the courage to return what was taken. Along the way, the Fraggles discover that the most important gifts aren’t necessarily the ones wrapped under a tree.
The story centers on kindness, giving and helping someone in need — themes that fit perfectly with the heart of Fraggle Rock.
Nicole Scherzinger Is Heading to Fraggle Rock
Another big surprise is the appearance of Nicole Scherzinger.
Apple has confirmed that the singer and actress will appear in the holiday special, although details about exactly who or what she will be playing have not yet been revealed.
Celebrity musical guests have become something of a tradition for Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, so Scherzinger’s appearance should fit right into the musical world of the Fraggles.
Considering this is being promoted specifically as an all-new musical special, there’s also a pretty good chance Wembley and the gang won’t be solving this holiday problem quietly.
It wouldn’t be Fraggle Rock without a few songs along the way.
The Back to the Rock Team Returns
Fans of Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock will see plenty of familiar names behind the scenes.
The special is directed by John Tartaglia and written by Matt Fusfeld and Alex Cuthbertson.
Executive producers include Lisa Henson, Halle Stanford, John Tartaglia, Matt Fusfeld, Alex Cuthbertson, Arnon Milchan and Yariv Milchan. Longtime Fraggle performers Dave Goelz and Karen Prell serve as co-executive producers.
Harvey Mason Jr. serves as executive music producer, while Chris Plourde produces and Tim O’Brien co-produces the special.
It’s essentially the same creative world that has helped make Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock feel like a genuine continuation of Jim Henson’s original creation rather than simply another reboot carrying a familiar name.
Another Fraggle Rock Holiday Tradition?
Fraggle Rock: A Holiday Gift also continues what is quickly becoming a new holiday tradition for the franchise.
In December 2025, Apple TV released The First Snow of Fraggle Rock, which followed Gobo as an unusual holiday season sent him searching for musical inspiration in Outer Space.
That special featured Lele Pons and introduced another major change in the Gorg family with the arrival of Junior Gorg’s baby sister. Apple continues to feature The First Snow of Fraggle Rock as part of its holiday collection.
Now, only one year later, we’re heading back underground for another completely new holiday adventure.
For longtime Fraggle fans, that’s a pretty nice gift all by itself.
Fraggle Rock Has Always Been About More Than the Songs
One reason Fraggle Rock continues to work more than four decades after the original series premiered is that the stories have always had something underneath all the singing, dancing and radish eating.
Jim Henson built Fraggle Rock around the idea that different communities are connected, even when they don’t always understand one another.
Fraggles, Doozers, Gorgs and Silly Creatures all live in seemingly different worlds, but what one group does inevitably affects the others.
The premise of A Holiday Gift sounds like another classic example of that philosophy.
Something belonging to Doc is taken without the Fraggles realizing its importance. Their actions affect the people around them, and Wembley has to make things right.
It’s a very Fraggle Rock way to tell a story about generosity and responsibility without losing the fun that made the series special in the first place.
